چکیده

In the present study oneand two-dimensional numerical models are proposed for calculating gas flow and valve dynamics in a reciprocating compressor. It turns out that they are capable of capturing the most important physical effects during a compression cycle, namely the interaction between pressure waves inside the cylinder and valve dynamics. In order to model the heat transfer from the gas to the cylinder full three-dimensional simulations have been carried out. Inspecting the results a reconstruction of the heat flux depending only on few dimensionless numbers has been derived. The reconstructed heat fluxes have been incorporated into the simplified one dimensional compressor model allowing a heat transfer analysis of a compression cycle. Comparisons with measurements and full three-dimensional simulations of different types of compressors show good agreement. Unsteady State Analysis Of A Hermetic Reciprocating Compressor: Heat Transfer Inside the Cylinder And Valve Dynamics

In this work, an unsteady state analysis of the compression cycle of a small hermetic reciprocating compressor for domestic refrigeration was carried out. The mass and energy balances were applied to the refrigerant inside the cylinder in order to determine the mass and temperature behaviour through the compression process. A specific onedimensional model of the valves was developed to calculat...

Numerical Investigation Of The Influence Of The Transient Flow Inside the Suction And Discharge Chamber On Heat Transfer Of A Small Reciprocating Compressor

The consideration of the convective heat transfer in the suction and discharge region of a compressor is handled differently in the literature. Commonly used are correlations for a steady state turbulent flow through a pipe like Chrustalev et al. (1998), Xin et al. (2000), Link et al. (2007). Here it is a point of principle whether such an approach is justified. Subjects of the present work are...

Parametric Study of Hermetic Reciprocating Compressor

A numerical simulation of the thermal and fluid-dynamic behaviour of hermetic reciprocating compressors has been developed by solving the one-dimensional and transient governing equations of the flow (continuity, momentum and energy) in the whole compressor domain. The governing equations are discretized using an implicit control-volume formulation. A SIMPLE-like algorithm, extended to compress...

Comparison of Heat Transfer Power of the Cooling Panel with Square Cross Section and Circular Cross Section in Electric Arc Furnaces Steelmaking by the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics

Steel pipes with circular cross-sections are usually used in cooling panels of electric arc furnaces. In the present study pipes with square cross-sections under equivalent conditions were used to obtain more information on the possibility of increasing the heat transfer and cooling efficiency. The results showed increased efficiency of the square pipe compared to the circular cross-section pip...
